Developing and Maintaining Sexual Integrity in Counselling and Ministry
Counselling Elective (1 Credit)
A. Course Objective
To address the importance of sexual integrity of pastors, leaders and counsellors. Causes for failure in this
area, helpful protective measures that can be taken, and godly use of power in leadership will be explored
through a video-based curriculum.
B. Course work
1. Watch the videos NP101 – NP105 (total 5 hours) which are available on moodle only to be accessed by
those enrolled in this course.

2. Read Shattered Vows by Debra Laaser (2008) (230 pages = 18 hours)
C. Assignments for Assessment
Please submit the following on or before March 23, 2025 by email to: dileeniabe@yahoo.com
1. Write a three page reflection on your key takeaways from the video teachings that apply to
ministry/church and to your personal life. (750 words) (5 hours)
2. Answer the 50 multiple-choice questions for NP101 – 105 (pages 28-37). Scan and email as above. (1
hour)
3. Write a 2000 word paper addressing biblical and psychological approaches that need to be integrated
into to the training of pastors, leaders and counsellors in Sri Lanka to help them develop and maintain
sexual integrity throughout their lifetime. A minimum of 4 sources must be used in addition to the video
content. It must be relevant to Sri Lankan culture. (10 hours)
4. Write a book report on Shattered Vows, including a personal reflection on how the book impacted you
and your understanding of women who have been sexually betrayed and the possibility of healing. (6
hours)
